Landon Sims both hit and pitched well for the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity, but it wasn't enough as the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity fell to Etowah HS 5-3 at TBD on Thursday.
It was a good day at the plate for the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity's Sims. Sims went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first and third innings.
Etowah HS' lineup had no answer for Sims. Sims held Etowah HS hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Nick Torres got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He tossed two innings of shutout ball. Nick Torres struck out none, walked one and gave up one hit.
Etowah HS was sparked by Andrew Keene and Tyler Adams, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.
Brennan Vincent was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

Etowah HS piled on two more runs in the bottom of the second. A clutch sacrifice fly scored Jake Johnston to open the scoring in the frame.
The South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity scored two runs in the top of the third to cut their deficit to two. An RBI double by Max Schmal and a wild pitch triggered the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity's comeback. But, Brady Jones got Matt Cunningham to fly out to end the inning.
